Terms of Use

These terms apply whenever you use Greenwich Residents Directory. By continuing to use the pages, you accept them. Do not use the service if you do not agree.

1. What This Reference Provides

Greenwich Residents Directory is a privately operated reference that describes and links to public rolls, record indexes, and directory collections concerning people who live or have lived in Greenwich, Connecticut. It does not host government records and is not affiliated with the Greenwich Town Clerk, Assessor, any court, library, or other records custodian.

2. Lawful Use Rules

Use the pages only for lawful purposes. You may not use this service or information reached through it to:

  • Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or harm any person
  • Locate someone protected by a restraining or protective order
  • Commit identity theft or fraud
  • Make decisions regulated by the FCRA, including credit, employment, tenant, or insurance decisions
  • Scrape, copy, or republish the site's content at scale
  • Interfere with the site's operation or security

3. No Consumer Reporting Service

Greenwich Residents Directory is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq. Neither these pages nor the results returned by a linked search tool are consumer reports. They may not be used to evaluate eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another purpose covered by the FCRA.

4. External Links

Government portals and third-party services, including sponsored search tools, set their own terms and privacy practices. We do not control or guarantee their content, availability, prices, or handling of submitted information.

5. No Warranties

The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. No promise is made that the content is accurate, complete, or current, or that an outside portal will operate or produce a correct result.

6. Liability Limits

To the fullest extent allowed by law, the operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from use of these pages or a linked resource, including a decision based on a record located through them.

7. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold the operators harmless from a claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys' fees, that results from your misuse of the service or breach of these terms.

8. Intellectual Property

The site's original writing, design, logo, and layout are protected by copyright. Linking to a page and quoting a short, attributed excerpt is welcome; republishing complete pages or copying the material systematically is not.

9. Changes to the Terms

A revised version may be posted here at any time. Continuing to use the service after a revision means you accept the updated terms.

10. Restricting Access

Access may be blocked or limited for a user who violates these terms or abuses the service, at the operators' discretion and without advance notice.

11. Connecticut Governing Law

These terms are governed by Connecticut law, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Public-record requests are governed by the Connecticut Freedom of Information Act, CGS §1-200 et seq., and may also use Greenwich's local records-request route. That statute provides access rights subject to its fees, response procedures, exemptions, and the separate rules protecting vital, court, voter, law-enforcement, and other records. Connecticut has no county government, so a request should go to the Town Clerk, Assessor, state agency, court, or other custodian that actually holds the record.

12. Severability

If a provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect.

13. Questions

Questions about these terms may be sent through the Contact page.
