Information You Submit
A name, phone number, or address entered in a search form is sent to the third-party provider that supplies the result. Greenwich Residents Directory does not retain a copy of those searches on its own servers. If you contact us, we see the contents of your message and use them to answer it.
Routine Technical Logs
Our hosting service may record ordinary server information, such as an IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and time stamps. We review that information in aggregate to maintain the service and understand which pages are useful. Cookies or similar tools may be used for basic analytics or, when applicable, advertising measurement.
How Limited Data Is Used
We use the small amount of information described above to operate the pages, troubleshoot errors, measure traffic, and improve the reference material. We do not sell visitor lists or create individual user profiles.
Links Beyond This Site
Pages link to Greenwich and Connecticut records portals, library and archive collections, and third-party search tools. Once you leave these pages, the outside provider's privacy policy controls what it receives. Sponsored search results are supplied by a separate company and follow that company's terms.
Who May Process It
Hosting and support providers may process server logs on our behalf. Analytics and advertising partners may receive the automatic information described above. We disclose information when valid legal process requires it, and otherwise limit disclosure to running the service.
Records reached through the Greenwich Town Clerk, Assessor, Connecticut courts, Department of Public Health, Secretary of the State, or Greenwich Library remain under the rules of those custodians. Fairfield County has no county government that replaces those town and state offices.
Security and Retention
The connection is encrypted, and server logs are retained only for as long as the purposes above require. There are no user accounts here, so this service does not hold a password or personal profile that could be exposed.
People Under 18
The service is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you think a minor sent information to us, contact us and we will remove it.
Your Choices and Record Custodians
The Connecticut Data Privacy Act gives qualifying consumers rights that may include access, correction, deletion, a portable copy, a list of third parties, and opt-out choices for sale, targeted advertising, and certain profiling. The Act applies to covered businesses, generally allows 45 days for a response, and does not make government entities subject to a private-site deletion request. Because Greenwich Residents Directory keeps very little, a request normally involves checking the contact mailbox and applicable server logs.
Public-record access follows a different path. The Connecticut Freedom of Information Act, CGS ยง1-200 et seq., supports inspection and copying of public records but does not override exemptions, sealed files, investigations, or other privacy statutes. A Greenwich request can also use the Town's records-request page. Vital records have their own rules: the current Greenwich certificates page lists $20 per certified copy and government photo ID; births under 100 years carry eligibility and relationship limits, while records 100 years or older are generally open, subject to adoption and other protected categories. Use the Contact page for information held by this service, and ask the responsible custodian about an official record.
Policy Updates
When this policy changes, the new version will appear here. Continued use after an update indicates acceptance of the revised terms.
